Parent Minute

Even God’s chosen wasn’t a great parent.

Posted on 1/24/2017 by Greg Yoder
Have you even thought to yourself, “Wow, I’m not very good at this parenting thing”? I think we’ve all been there. I certainly have. I have said things I’ve regretted, was a poor example, or was overly firm in discipline. This week I was reading Genesis 37, which is the story of Joseph. The thing that struck me was that his father loved Joseph more than his brothers. He didn’t even try to hide it. How would our kids feel if we favored one kid over the other? In our family, each of our kids thinks the other is the favorite. Guess what? God USED Joseph’s situation to not only save his family, but saved a nation from famine. And God can use our “bad parenting” too.
