I hear that prayer all the time

Posted on 9/11/2016 by Greg Yoder

“God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food—amen.” That’s a prayer I repeated over and over again as a kid. It meant NOTHING—even though I was thankful for the food, for sure. A listener asked on our Keys for Kids Facebook page, “Are recited prayers or free speaking prayers better?” How we talk to God is important. The disciples wanted to know how to pray, too. Jesus taught them. Remember, though, the disciples had a relationship with the Heavenly Father. We may be asking our kids to talk to somebody they don’t even know yet. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t teach them, though. We need to teach our kids and grandkids the way Jesus taught. Then encourage them to pray from their heart.
