Parent Minute

My kids get so angry.

Posted on 4/5/2018 by Greg Yoder

Do you get mad because your kids get mad? It’s easy to do. Guess what? Jesus got mad. Now, if your kids are listening to this, they’re probably going to hold that over your head. Getting angry isn’t sinful, but according to Jon Bloom with Desiring God, it’s almost impossible not to sin when we’re angry because “sin infects everything we think, say, and do.” Since we’re not Jesus, Bloom says we need to be careful that we only get angry at things that make God angry. Bloom says, “Our anger is righteous when we are angered over evil that profanes God’s holiness and perverts his goodness.” So, if your kids are throwing fits and tantrums, causing dissension and division, that’s sin-kind-of-anger and we need to nip that in the bud.

This Parent Minute is based in part on “How Can We Be Angry and Not Sin?” by Jon Bloom,
